heading to the school dance

It is actually COOL out here in the morning and the evening. You don't really need a jacket but there is a cool breeze. I can't wait until fall!

Devin is liking school a lot more. He made several friends (the cool boys in the class, of course) and the girls are chasing him at recess and trying to kiss him. For those of you who know Devin, you know this pattern began in preschool when he was 2 or 3 and has continued. We fear for his teenage years. At least things are getting back to normal with Devin! He is doing well with football too, although he's having to work really hard to impress his coaches. He is wide receiver and running back. He is #24 for the 3rd year in a row and is happy that he now has a "lucky number".

Dylan absolutely loves middle school. Every day is "awesome" and he still raves about the food. He has a lot of work but he's used to that from 5th grade. (Thanks 5th grade teachers for getting him ready!) His teachers are wonderful. I just dropped him off at his first ever school dance! He and his friends had to decide whether they wanted to go to the high school football game or the dance. Since there will be many more games, he chose the dance.

Now that school is in session and the weather is cooling off we are meeting more people in the neighborhood. Maia goes for a bike ride every evening and she rides right up to people and asks "What's your name?" Since it is neighborhood schools here, both boys have school friends who live on our street. There are several cul de sacs where kids hang out and it's really safe. They have even been taking the bus home and loving it!

We are still working out Maia's daycare situation. It's been quite a struggle. She's getting so big- she's growing out of some of her clothes (finally). I am very busy at school. The good thing is it is an awesome school district...challenging for the kids. The downside is I'm working my tail off! Like anything, it just takes getting used to.
