We have Maia!

We have our suitcase and we have Maia! It is 6pm here and we've had Maia (NaNa) for 7 hours. I JUST was able to put her down for the first time! She is adorable, tiny and petrified! She has heat rash and bug bites on her face. She has cried almost all day. Out of the 15 babies in our group, she is the oldest, has the most hair and is the most frightened. For the first few hours, she screamed when she looked at me but she would not let me put her down (even when she was sleeping). She watches Keith constantly and doesn't want him out of her sight. HOWEVER if he gets too close she will scream. She is one sad little baby but that will make her first smile (when we see it) all the better. All she has done all day is cry and sleep in my arms. She did manage to play with some toys for a few minutes though. She loves holding tight to blankets and won't let go of this green cup that we brought. Finally, about 20 minutes ago she sucked down a bottle and is a little more content. We know her reaction is normal and just proves that she was attached to her nannies. A couple of the nannies were trying to take her from us and our guide had to chase them away.

I'll post some pictures from the day.

Hi Guys!
I can't tell you how happy I am to hear that you picked up Maia! She's absolutely beautiful and it's so nice to see those smiles on your faces. I will keep checking the website to get further updates. I love you all and I can't wait for you to get her home, so Cenk and I can come meet her!!!

Tricia and Keith,
She's beautiful! Congratulations! It brings me back to July when I went to pick up Olivia. Just remember, if she was that attached to her nannies, she will become just that much more attached to you. My thoughts and prayers are with you for a safe and speedy return! I can't WAIT to meet her! Love, Carolyn and Olivia

I am so happy for you guys that I almost am crying. Maia is so beautiful and so fortunate to have been choosen by such a wonderful family. It sounds like she is already starting to bond with you both, esp. her mommy. I know that you will be a happy family of five. We will keep you in our prayers until you are all home safe.
